Walnut Valley Unified School District Awards Medi-Cal Billing Contract to Accelify
September 21, 2010
Accelify, LLC is pleased to announce that it will be working with Walnut Valley Unified School District in California to manage the Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) program and the Local Education Agency (LEA) Medi-Cal Billing Option program.
Walnut Valley is located in Los Angeles County and serves 15,000 students. It is comprised of nine elementary schools, three middle schools, and three high schools. A number of Walnut Valley schools have been recognized as California Distinguished and National Blue Ribbon Schools. The National Blue Ribbon honors schools that are regarded as high achieving and have risen to the challenge of educating every child.
“We are looking forward to working with Walnut Valley Unified School District on the MAA and LEA Medi-Cal Billing Option programs,” said Alex Brecher, COO, Accelify. “We have successfully helped other California districts substantially increase participation in these programs, which is the key to driving reimbursement increases. We believe that our unique management approach will be highly beneficial for Walnut Valley, and will help the district continue its tradition of excellence in education.”
Budget cuts are crippling school districts across the nation, and California schools are no exception. With the end of the one-time federal stimulus dollars provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Walnut Valley is facing a $3.3 million deficit this year. In order to continue supporting outstanding student achieveme nt, the district recognizes the need to explore ways to maximize its Medi-Cal programs.
“Time is a precious commodity in our line of work, and the more time we spend with paperwork, the less time we spend with students,” said Jose Annicchiarico, Administrative Director of Educational Services, Walnut Valley Unified School District. “Accelify has a system in place that is time-effective, and we believe that it will generate much-needed resources for our district.”
Accelify is committed to providing the highest level of service in order to help school districts and local education agencies simplify the claiming process and receive their full shares of Medi-Cal reimbursement revenues. In order to stay at the forefront of educational and Medi-Cal related issues in the state, Accelify has a California Board of Advisors. The members’ diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise provide insight and guidance on industry developments and business strategies as they relate to the complexities of Medi-Cal billing. Current board members include former State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Delaine Eastin; former Assembly Member, Marilyn Brewer; former California Education Secretary and Assemblywoman Kerry Mazzoni; and former Indiana Attorney General Jeff Modisett.
Accelify is currently working with a number of districts in California including Sweetwater Union High School District, the largest high school district in the country, Green Dot Public Schools, and Travis Unified School District. In just its first quarter, Accelify has increased Sweetwater’s Medi-Cal participation by over 25%, ensured more than 90% participation in Green Dot, and achieved 100% participation for Travis.
