Muroc Joint Unified School District Enters Contract With Accelify for Medi-Cal Claiming Services

August 4, 2010

Accelify, LLC i s pleased to announce that it has been selected by Muroc Joint Unified School District to manage the Local Education Agency (LEA) Medi-Cal billing option and Medicaid Administrative Activities (MAA) claiming programs.

‘‘The Muroc Joint Unified School District looks forward to working with Accelify,” said James B. Jenkins Jr., MAA Coordinator, Muroc Joint Unified School District.  “We see this as a great opportunity to bring in additional resources to the district that will help us provide essential services to our students.”

Muroc takes great pride in its students, who routinely win top awards in everything from leadership and scholarship, to sports and fine arts. Like many districts, however, Muroc is facing considerable economic challenges and has had to cut back on teacher salaries, reduce vacation pay, increase class sizes, and eliminate some after-school programs to balance the budget.

In order to continue supporting a high level of student achievement, the district recognizes the need to explore every possible revenue stream. This year, in addition to initiating community fundraising activities and pursuing corporate sponsorships and grants, the district will be working with Accelify to maximize its Medi-Cal claiming programs, which can be a significant funding source.

“We are thrilled to be working with Muroc Joint Unified School District,” said Alex Brecher, COO, Accelify. “Our experience with other districts in the state and across the country has proven how valuable the Medi-Cal programs can be when managed effectively, and we are confident that our programs, processes and staff will help the district make the most of its LEA and MAA programs.”

Accelify is currently working with a number of districts in California including Sweetwater Union High School District, the largest high school district in the country. In the first quarter of effort Accelify increased Medi-Cal participation by more than 25% while reducing the district’s personnel’s workload significantly. Accelify is also working with Green Dot Public Schools in Los Angeles to provide products and services for its MAA program. In the first quarter of service Accelify was able to ensure more than 90% participation.  More recently, Accelify was selected by Travis Unified School District and has increased its MAA participation to 100%.
