Accelify to Provide Medi-Cal Billing to Caruthers Unified SD

October 11, 2010

Caruther s Unified School District has chosen Accelify, LLC to manage its Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) claiming program.

“Caruthers looks forward to building a partnership with Accelify so that our students and staff can benefit from increased resources from the Medi-Cal claiming program,” said Debra Haney, Business Manager, Caruthers Unified School District.

The district is located in Caruthers, California and serves close to 1,500 students. Taking advantage of its ability to keep class sizes small, Caruthers boasts high-ranking schools. The district’s elementary, middle, and high schools are currently ranked nine out of ten when compared to similar schools statewide, and Caruthers High School has received recognition from U.S. News and World Report magazine, winning the Bronze Medal in 2008 and the Silver Medal in 2009.  Every year, U.S. News and World Report, in collaboration with School Evaluation Services, analyzes academic and enrollment data from approximately 22,000 high schools for its "America’s Best High Schools" report.

“We are pleased to be working with Caruthers Unified School District,” said Alex Brecher, COO, Accelify. “We have had considerable success in the state with increasing participation in the MAA program, which is the key driver for increasing reimbursements. The additional funding that Caruthers Unified can receive from the MAA program will help the district maintain its high educational standards, and we are proud to assist with that important goal.”

The school-based Medi-Cal claiming programs can be significant funding sources, and as school districts face increasing budget cuts many are taking a closer look at how to maximize their reimbursements. Accelify has over 20 years of experience with school-based Medicaid and understands e xactly how to simplify the claiming process and increase participation rates so that districts can take full advantage of the Medi-Cal programs. Accelify is currently working with several school districts in California including Sweetwater Union High School District, the largest high school district in the country, Green Dot Public Schools, and Travis Unified School District. In just its first quarter, Accelify has increased Sweetwater’s Medi-Cal participation by over 25%, ensured more than 90% participation in Green Dot, and achieved 100% participation for Travis.

In order to stay at the forefront of educational and Medi-Cal related issues in the state, Accelify has a California Board of Advisors. The members’ diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise provide insight and guidance on industry developments and business strategies as they relate to the complexities of Medi-Cal billing. Current board members include former State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Delaine Eastin; former Assembly Member, Marilyn Brewer; former California Education Secretary and Assemblywoman, Kerry Mazzoni; former Indiana Attorney General, Jeff Modisett; and Democratic National Committee Member, Aleita J. Huguenin.
