FOXBORO — It is important for children to understand the world through the eyes of people with disabilities, and for people with disabilities to have access to the literary world.
To that end, the Boyden Library children’s department last fall received $500 from the Foxboro Commission on Disability to purchase books about disabilities and people with disabilities.
The department bought 34 books in braille and others designed to raise awareness about those who live with a variety of physical and mental challenges, including autism, blindness and deafness. The books also deal with people who depend on wheelchairs and other mobility devices, service animals and illnesses that cause disabilities.
