9 years ago Charity Washington entered the field of Speech Pathology for a simple reason. She believed that communication is one of the most powerful tools a person can possess and wanted to help children harness its power.

She has found the profession to be boundlessly rewarding. “I thoroughly enjoy measuring the progress of my clients,” she said. “It is extremely rewarding to to see a student meet a goal or objective.” In fact, this is one of the reasons she has found Accelify’s documentation system so critical to her work. Accelify gives Charity a single place to accurately track the progress of her students, and go back and look at the progress to make decisions about how to move forward with the student’s learning.

In addition to the tangible rewards of watching students make progress, one thing that drew Charity to the profession—and keeps her there—is the diversity of opportunities within the profession. “There are so many work choice settings in Speech-Language Pathology–nursing homes, hospitals, adult day care centers,” she stated. “As a Speech-Language Pathologist I have the opportunity to interact with so many different professionals from other disciplines.”

One of Charity’s favorite parts of her job is teaching student’s with Autism to initiate greetings and requests. She feels that in doing so, she is opening up a whole new world for these students. “Social interaction opens the door to meaningful communication,” Charity explained. “I am elated when I am able to provide a child with such a powerful tool.”

Charity believes that Accelify has helped her do her job better. Whereas before using Accelify, it was difficult to keep track how many minutes of her student’s prescribed services had actually been delivered and whether she was scheduling all the services she need to for a student, using Accelify’s drag and drop scheduler, she can easily schedule out all of the sessions for all of her student’s, and keep track of when sessions are completed. With easy access to all of her notes and data in one place, she is also able to better plan for each therapy session. Charity feels that Accelify has improved her job performance by adding a level of ease and convenience to her work that didn’t exist before.

Ultimately, however, Charity believes that it is the student’s who benefit. “I believe that Accelify has a significant impact on students.
